General Insurer of the YearThis award commenced in 1998 and is now Australia’s most prestigious general insurance industry recognition as it is voted on by brokerages all over Australia. Brokerages select the insurer that performs the best overall on a range of important product and service quality factors.The relevance of these criteria have been tested and re-tested over a number of years. Only national insurers operating in the broker market are eligible for inclusion in the survey.The survey responses are collated by an independent research company and statistically analysed to determine the winner. The winner is announced at the opening ceremony of the NIBA Annual Convention in October each year. The winner has the right to use NIBA General Insurer of the Year in its marketing and promotional activities for one year. 2008's winner, for the 7th year running, is QBE Insurance Australia.
