Obtaining a police checkGood Fame and CharacterAFS licensees have obligations relating to the competence, knowledge and skills of their responsible managers (RMs), as well as the officers’ “good fame and character”. We have recently been asked how ASIC expects a licensee to comply with the obligation to test their responsible managers’ good fame and character. Having reviewed the Licensing Kit and the Corporations Act we recommend that licensees ensure their RMs undertake an Australian Federal Police check annually or bi-annually to confirm their good character and to prove to ASIC compliance with the licence conditions and obligations. Processing TimesThe current processing time for a routine national police check is approximately 15 working days from the date received by Criminal Records.
