NSW finalist named in NIBA young broker award

Regional broker Matthew O’Donnell was named the New South Wales finalist for the National Insurance Brokers Association’s (NIBA) Warren Tickle Memorial Award on Saturday.

Mr O’Donnell, manager of Aon’s Albury branch, joins an impressive list of talented young brokers from throughout Australia vying for the national award to be presented at the NIBA Convention in September this year.

He joins Ian Poustie of Zenith Insurance Services in Western Australia, Jacqueline Scaf of Queensland firm Citycover Insurance Brokers and South Australian finalist Andrew Bourke of IC Frith and Associates.

The Victorian finalist will be announced next month.

NIBA Chief Executive Noel Pettersen said Mr O’Donnell’s strong teamwork and obvious dedication to broking impressed the judges.

“Matthew had an impressive list of academic achievements and excellent client and underwriter references to support his application,” he said. “Being from a regional brokerage he had also acquired considerable broking experience for his age.”

Judging for the Vero-sponsored national award will be undertaken in September when finalists are flown to Sydney for a two-day personal development seminar and judging. The winner will be announced at the NIBA Convention in Darwin.
