About NIBAThe National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) is widely recognised as one of the most effective trade associations operating in the financial services sector. As the peak professional body for insurance intermediaries, NIBA represents insurance brokerages, authorised representatives and underwriting agencies and wholesale brokerages licensed to operate in the life and general insurance sectors. Currently there are around 500 NIBA member firms operating from around 780 locations nationwide. Members benefit from access to lobbying, marketing, education, technical and information services and regularly participate in industry discussions and research activities. NIBA member firms actively help promote and pursue the NIBA mission in all parts of the insurance and risk community and provide energy, support, ideas and inspiration to the association. NIBA also runs the NIBA College of Insurance and Risk Professionals which offers varying levels of professional memberships to individual practitioners. It is also the primary education and training body for the sector. The College has around 2,500 practitioner members that have attained the designation Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) – recognised as the industry standard for fully competent brokers. All NIBA broker member firms are managed by a practitioner who has reached QPIB status as a minimum. NIBA member firms are subject to strict screening before being admitted as members. Once admitted each member firm is bound by the NIBA Code of Conduct; subscribes to an external complaints facility; and commits to implementing the Insurance Broking Code of Practice. NIBA has strong international links.
NIBA’s Chief Executive Officer, is a past Chairman of CIIBA and is currently a member of the Executive Council of WFII. |
