Board and Committees

The NIBA Board of Directors and divisional committees in each State and Territory are NIBA’s powerhouses for ideas and activity. And, by drawing on the expertise of the NIBA secretariat for advice and action, NIBA’s responses are always focused and relevant.

NIBA Board

NIBA is governed by a Board of Directors whose role it is to provide vision and guidance to the future for NIBA and its members. The Board continually assesses plans and governs the affairs and policies of the association. Above all it takes steps to maintain ongoing dialogue and collaboration with members and the broader industry through the sharing of knowledge and information.

The NIBA Board is elected by principal members representing the five State Divisions and speciality categories including multinational brokers, authorised representatives in the life and general insurance sectors, underwriting agencies and wholesale brokers.

The Board has set up a number of specialist committees to represent a wide range of interests and allow members to discuss relevant topics with their peers, discover more about issues of importance and build their own influence within the broader NIBA network. NIBA members and the executive also participate in a wide variety of industry, business and government advisory bodies.

NIBA Divisional Committees

The role of Divisional Committees is to maintain a high standard of regional interest in NIBA. The committees work at grass roots level to encourage members to take an active role in the promotion of the association. They are also active in organising educational events and communicating with the local membership. Divisional committees monitor state government issues and maintain regular liaison with the NIBA executive.

NIBA Young Professional Committees

NIBA set up its Young Professional committees some years ago to provide an important education and networking forum for practitioners under 35 years of age in all ares of the insurance and risk sector. There is a YP Committee in each state reporting into the local Divisional Committee.

Young Professional Committees provide input on issues of relevance to young practitioners and is active in organising training and educational activities in conjunction with NIBA College. An important goal of these committees is to implement activities to promote broking as a career of choice.
