Poustie wins NIBA's top Young Broker Award

Western Australian senior account manager Ian Poustie has won the 2008 Warren Tickle Memorial Award at the 26th Annual NIBA Convention in Darwin.

Mr Poustie, 31, from Zenith Insurance Services in Osbourne Park, was presented the award by Anthony Day from award sponsor Vero, along with a cheque for $5000.

NIBA Chief Executive Noel Pettersen says Mr Poustie is an extremely driven, intelligent and professional insurance executive and a great young ambassador for the insurance broking industry.

“He typifies what can be achieved by approaching your job with dedication,” Mr Pettersen said. “Like many of the young emerging brokers coming through the ranks of our industry, Ian exhibits an outstanding level of professionalism and integrity.”

Nominees for the award went through a rigorous nomination and judging process as well as personal development training.

“This is a really satisfying process, regardless of who wins in the end,” Mr Poustie said in his acceptance speech. “The whole process of getting here was fantastic.”

First awarded in 1990, the accolade is named in honour of the late Warren Tickle, the first General Insurance Commissioner, an insurance lecturer, and a strongadvocate for broker education.

Other finalists included Mark Van Der Haar (Victoria/Tasmania), Jacqueline Scaf (Queensland), Andrew Bourke (South Australia/Northern Territory) and Matthew O’Donnell (New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory).
