New President for NIBA

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has elected Steve Lardner as NIBA President, following last Friday’s annual general meeting in Sydney.

Mr Lardner is the National General Manager of Aon Australia’s Retail Risk Services division. He says increasing public awareness of insurance brokers in the community will be a priority in his two-year term.

“We’d like to involve the rest of the industry – including non-members – to work together more collaboratively to improve brokers’ profiles,” he said.

Mr Lardner says he is looking forward to taking on the challenges ahead, particularly attracting young talent to the profession and tackling issues related to insurance taxes.

A Board member since 2004 and former Vice President, Mr Lardner joined Aon through its predecessors 18 years ago and has held a number of roles including State Director NSW and National Manager Aon Insurance Services.

Marsh Australia Director David Duffield has been elected Vice President.

South Australian Peter Blanco, a director of De Conno & Blanco Insurance Brokers, replaces Mike Donnelly of Donnelly Insurance Brokers as the South Australian Division representative. Mr Donnelly had served on the Board since 1999.
