Best young broker award search intensifies

Two more Warren Tickle Memorial Award finalists were announced at National Insurance Broker Association events over the weekend.

Aon Corporate Risk Services’ Svetlana Rose, from Brisbane, joins Darwin–based Elias Anictomatis of Marsh in the running for the prestigious national award to be presented at the NIBA Convention in September.

The Vero-sponsored annual award is presented to a young broker who shows outstanding qualities of professionalism and integrity.

NIBA Chief Executive Noel Pettersen said both candidates had excellent client and underwriter references to support their applications and an impressive list of academic achievements.

“Both finalists presented very well on paper,” he said. “But what was particularly impressive was that each winner had the respect of their supervisors.

“They spoke glowingly of the candidates’ performance in the workplace, their professionalism, integrity and active participation in the community.”

Western Australian business development manager Murray Johnson, formerly of Aon Risk Services, was earlier this year announced his state’s winner. Since then he has become ineligible as he is no longer a practicing broker and will not be in contention for the national award.

The New South Wales finalist will be announced on Saturday night.

Treasurer John Lenders said the Fire Services Levy was already under review by the Brumby Labor Government and he would use the existing review process to determine the best model for the new levy. "The Brumby Labor Government is taking the tough decisions and doing the hard work to keep Victoria fire ready and safe," Mr Lenders said.
