How to make the most of the new financial yearBy David Buttsworth from ABC Business Improvement If you’re fed up getting the same results year in, year out and you feel like it is ‘Ground Hog Day’ every day, you’re trying to grow your insurance broking business in the hyper-competitive insurance industry and are searching for a way to dramatically increase your income and profits while maintaining some kind of a social life … well here are seven tips that will give you every chance to improve your business success this new financial year. 1. Get really clear about why you want and deserve to increase your number of clients, sales, profits and income. The ‘why’ often is associated with your family, hobbies and dreams. 2. Decide what you want and be very specific about it. Make your goals SMART …i.e. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic in a Time frame. For example, I want to generate “X” dollars in sales over the next 12 months, I want “X” number of clients on my books. 3. The goals are then broken down into a plan; with the plan consisting of monthly, weekly and daily activities, that when completed, will ensure you achieve your goals. 4. From the plan, list the 3 most important priorities that you need to complete on a daily basis that will take you 80% of the way to reaching your goals. Make sure you complete these daily, 100%. Celebrate and feel good when you do! Work everything else around your 3 most important priorities. 5. Work out the most effective ways to use your time, plan your time on a daily basis. If you fail to plan, you are inadvertently planning to fail. 6. Leverage your time and efforts with a ‘super group’ of professionals that will assist you to grow your business with referrals and you can help them grow theirs. Accountants, finance brokers, lawyers, bookkeepers, business coaches and anyone that is trusted and respected with lots of prospects to refer. 7. Learn what the successful brokers are doing and do it to. Successful business people know things that ‘not so’ successful people don’t. Successful people do things that not so successful business people don’t. One final thing before I wish you much success for this financial year… Brian Tracy (one of the world’s authorities on business success) is quoted as saying: “The difference between 95 % of the population and the millionaires, is that millionaires have plans and they check them daily. The difference between millionaires and billionaires, is that the billionaires check their goals twice a day.” David Buttsworth from ABC Business Improvement is an expert in mentoring professionals into generating results that they did not believe were possible.
