Simon Landrigan wins Young Professional of the Year for WAIn 16 years, Simon has risen through the ranks at Aon in a career he says he “passionately loves”. “My career in insurance broking, like many others, started at a young age with an opportunity at a broking firm, with the major incentive of earning some spending money,” Simon wrote in his award submission. “While studying marketing at the Adelaide TAFE, I was offered a job at Minet Australia in September 1994 to assist with administration duties. This was my first full-time position and with flexible hours at TAFE, I made a commitment to gain some practical working experience in a large international company. “Soon after I commenced working at Minet Australia, I would experience the merger of several large broking firms which formed Aon Risk Services. Little did I know that this was a start of a career which would provide me with significant challenges and a life changing experience.” His roles have included Account Broker, Account Executive, Senior Account Executive and now his current role is Account Manager and Team Leader of Professional & Consumer Services in Perth. He is responsible for nine staff who service a portfolio of 2500 clients, with a budget of approximately $2 million. Simon’s award submission was supported by glowing references from clients and underwriters, who describe him as displaying “excellent technical knowledge, strong negotiation and communication skills and keen business acumen”. We’ll see more of Simon as he joins the other state winners who are automatic finalists for the Warren Tickle Memorial Award, which will be announced at the NIBA Convention in October. Thanks to Vero for sponsoring the Warren Tickle Memorial Award, which is only open to brokers under 35 years of age.
