New student awards from NIBA CollegeNIBA College has introduced the Student and Trainee of the Month awards to recognise outstanding insurance professionals who are working hard to improve their knowledge and skills. Twenty-year-old Kate Bransgrove from Watkins Taylor Stone has been awarded the NIBA College Trainee of the Month for July. Kate is the first recipient of the award, which acknowledges the hard work of both students and their supervisors. Kate was recognised as Trainee of the Month by her NIBA College assessor for the consistently high standard of her work. Kate has been with Watkins Taylor Stone for 18 months and is currently completing the Certificate III in Financial Services at NIBA College. “The course is all online and NIBA provides you with the course material and you can have a tele-tutorial if you need extra help or have any questions,” she said. Her employers have also been involved in the learning process. “I have lots of training with my supervisor Liz (Stanton, Senior Broker) at work which helps me with my study, and vice versa. It’s good to be able to put what I’m learning into practice,” said Kate. “I really enjoy claims assessment and find it interesting, but I’d also like to work my way up and become a commercial broker.” With this in mind, Kate is eager to continue her education. She has recently started an online Bachelor of Business from Monash University and would like to complete the Diploma of Insurance Broking at NIBA College. NIBA also awarded the inaugural Student of the Month award to David Meech from Robert Meech Insurance Brokers. NIBA College hopes the awards will encourage and motivate all students to try their best at all times and aim to achieve great results.
