That's why we're continually sending out surveys and questionnaires. Each year we ask delegates who attended the annual NIBA Convention to gives us their views.

What were the highlights? What worked well? Who did they like as speakers and who do they want to see in the future?

The big news from last year's survey was that a whopping 93% of broker delegates had all or most of their expectations met at the 2009 Convention in Sydney. What's more, 80% of delegates said they will be back in 2010 when we head to the ever popular Conrad Jupiter's on the Gold Coast from 16-19 October.

Our Convention is about connecting people from across the insurance sector and reaching a broader range of brokers. It's the once-a-year chance to meet non-aligned brokers, as well as those in the clusters and the national and international firms, all in one central location. It also provides a hub for the real decision makers in the industry.

Given the shocks to the system of the recent years, it's a good time to be bringing the industry together once again. Fittingly, the theme for our 28th event is Revitalise Rethink Refocus - Launching into a New Decade.

If you've never been to a NIBA Convention before, here are more reasons to attend. And they were provided by brokers themselves:

  •  "The perfect way to gain face-to-face contact with potential partners and clients."
  • "Stay abreast of current developments."
  • "NIBA provides a greater spread of activity, speakers and insurer representation than most other conferences... which makes it a standout."
  • "It provides a great mix of networking, exhibition and learning opportunities that are real value adds to the business."
  • "NIBA is recognised as the event for insurance brokers."

That's why the annual Convention is important to so many people in our industry. It aims to capture the entrepreneurial flair of our industry sector and advance the cause for the young professionals as well.

NIBA also prides itself on producing great social events and this year on the Gold Coast will be no exception. You'll have a ball and learn a lot at the same time - visit www.niba.com.au/convention for all the details.

See ya' in Surfers!
