Australia’s financial sector was more resilient than many other financial centres coming out of the global economic crisis but we need to continue to do our bit to ensure that our collective voice rings clear and strong. Our industry has a lot going for it and that’s why the annual NIBA convention is so important. It’s about connecting people from across the general insurance sector and developing a sense of purpose for the future. After attracting record numbers in Sydney in 2009, this year we’re heading back to the ever-popular Jupiters on the sunny Gold Coast. With facilities and services that are world class the location will also provide a hub to explore Queensland’s diverse attractions. The program will offer invaluable industry knowledge, plus not to be missed networking opportunities. We’re aiming to capture the entrepreneurial flair of brokers and advance the cause for the new age of the profession – our Young Professionals. Our industry is maturing in an impressive way and the 28th Annual NIBA convention will inspire delegates, exhibitors and sponsors to refi ne their professional edge even more. The NIBA Convention reaches a broader range of brokers and provides access to the key decision makers across our industry. Significantly, given the shocks to the system of recent years, it’s the right time to be bringing everyone together once again. Be assured, you’ll learn a lot and have a great time doing it. Our last survey showed that 92% of attendees last year had all or most of their expectations met! Fittingly, the theme for 2010 is “Revitalise, Rethink, Refocus – Launching into a New Decade”.
