Two Sydney-based insurance brokers took time out to promote the value of careers in insurance
Two Sydney-based insurance brokers took time out to promote the value of careers in insurance at the Loreto Normanhurst career expo.
Chair of the the NSW Divisional Committee Carlie Griggs from JLT and John May from Steadfast IRS represented the insurance industry and spent the evening speaking to students at the prestigious Sydney private school.
Griggs who is the General Manager, Commercial, Retail Risk Services at JLT said, “Insurance needs to be prepared to meet the ‘talent challenge’ of the future and work proactively to strengthen the workforce to meet the needs of our diverse client base.”
May who is General Manager Distribution & Placements at Steadfast IRS thinks insurance is a great choice of career because the industry offers a diverse spectrum of businesses and professions that one can be associated with. He says, “I support the Careers in Insurance initiative because I want insurance broking to be seen as more of a desired profession than an afterthought when it comes to deciding a career path.” More brokers should be supporting this campaign because we are all proud of the work we do and the profession we belong to and it is time to talk to the wider community about it.
Griggs believes that attracting early talent can hep our industry and profession grow, “We really enjoyed interacting with the students and parents and promoting insurance. I am always happy to go out into the greater community to inform and educate about the benefits of being in this rewarding career.”
Both of them are passionate advocates for the industry and believe that every intermediary should be involved in events that promote the good work that brokers to to the wider community.
“More brokers should be supporting this campaign because we are all proud of the work we do and the profession we belong to and it is time to talk to the wider community about it,” concludes May.
