Disaster assistance is now available in 26 local government areas in Victoria following damaging storms in late October.
Assistance will be provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie said the severe weather on 29 October 2021 left extensive debris, damaged roads, and widespread power outages in its wake.
“The disaster assistance will provide a range of practical assistance measures to help impacted Victorians get back on their feet following the storms that have left homes without power,” Minister McKenzie said.
“Financial support is available to help families that remain without power to buy necessities, source other forms of fuel or power, or find alternative accommodation”.
“The Australian Government is working closely with the Victorian Government, and we are ready to provide further assistance as necessary.”
Affected local councils should contact Emergency Management Victoria via email ndfa@emv.vic.gov.au to discuss the availability of assistance.
