The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) and its Board of Directors have been closely monitoring developments and the advice of authorities, with respect to the novel coronavirus, to ensure they’re taking the necessary steps to protect the health and wellbeing of staff, delegates, exhibitors, sponsors and suppliers.
At this stage, it is very difficult to predict what the situation will be in October, and what restrictions may still be in place. However, after very careful consideration, the Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 NIBA Convention, which was due to be held from 26-27 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The decision was not taken lightly, but the health and safety of all attendees is, of course, NIBA’s priority. Furthermore, NIBA believes this decision will allow its members to focus on their clients, during what is a very difficult time for many.
Meanwhile, the team at NIBA, along with the Convention Organising Committee, will focus on delivering delegates an even better experience in 2021.
The 2021 NIBA Convention will be held on the Gold Coast from 11-12 October 2021, offering brokers a chance to network with colleagues from across the nation, and develop relationships with insurers, underwriters and exhibitors.
The famed NIBA Convention Marketplace allows delegates to hear firsthand about the latest products and services available in the market – helping to keep brokers at the cutting edge.
Our renowned social events help cement existing relationships and forge new ones, while our informative plenary and break-out sessions put the onus on technical learning and cover the subjects that matter to ensure you and your staff come away educated, inspired and equipped to handle any challenges you may face.
The NIBA Convention prides itself on offering a warm welcome to our Young Professional delegates, offering unbeatable value, tailored content and exceptional networking opportunities.
And finally, our annual awards – the Broker of the Year Award, Warren Tickle Memorial Award and the Lex McKeown Trophy – recognise the best in broking at a national level. These will be announced at the Convention, as well as the coveted General Insurer of the Year Award, voted for by brokers.
