Career support - from day one
Getting off to the right start is essential to a long and rewarding career in broking. That’s why NIBA places such an importance on making sure brokers, whether from city or country, small businesses or international firms, are given a solid foundation to build on.
Through our acclaimed mentoring program, hundreds of young insurance professionals have benefitted from the experience of industry leaders, making a real difference to careers when guidance and inspiration is most needed. And our renowned social and educational events – organised by our Young Professional Committees across Australia – will help you build a professional network that will last throughout your career.
Lead generation and broker promotion
NIBA uses a variety of methods to promote your value proposition to the wider world, raising awareness of the valued services you have to offer and driving business leads in your direction. As well as placing a number of articles about brokers in the trade and national press, our Need a Broker service puts consumers in touch with brokers in their geographic area, or those who specialise in their area of need. The call centre and website combined receive nearly 10,000 inquiries every month.
Only NIBA member brokerages with at least one QPIB on staff are eligible to be registered on Need a Broker. With a service like this at your disposal in a tightening economy, can you afford not to be a NIBA member?
Raising your professionalism
When you provide superior levels of customer service and technical understanding it’s increasingly important be able to show that to prospective clients. That’s where NIBA membership designations can help set you apart.
The Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) membership designation is the gold standard and it’s only available through NIBA. It shows you’re more than just compliant; you’re a trusted adviser who has attained the highest standards of professionalism and knowledge. That’s a very powerful message to share. Being a NIBA Principal Member also adds credibility to your personal and business brand. Showing the NIBA member logo on your website or printed material enhances your corporate image, assuring clients that you have access to the full support and benefits of the peak body for your profession.
NIBA’s Insurance Brokers Code of Practice sets out the minimum requirements for conduct and professionalism in an accessible way, strengthening consumer confidence in the integrity of the profession.
Representing your interests
Australian brokers are busy placing an estimated $17bn of gross written premium (GWP) annually – that’s almost half of all GWP placed in Australia. NIBA seeks to protect its members from anything that might get in the way of them doing the job to the best of their abilities. That’s why we go into bat on behalf of our members with governments and regulators to ensure the unique interests of brokers and their clients are heard.
We know that one-size-fits all regulation doesn’t work. That’s why we have forged strong relationships with governments at state and national level, and work closely with regulators to ensure that your interests – and those of your clients – are represented. We’ve enjoyed great success on this front, ensuring you can keep doing what you’re best at – providing the right advice and cover for your clients.
