Why be a NIBA member?

Membership of the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) guarantees support and opportunities for brokers at every stage of their careers.

NIBA membership benefits

When you belong to NIBA as an individual practitioner, or as a member of staff at a NIBA Principal brokerage, the quality and scope of services offered far exceeds the membership fee.

Career support

Getting off to the right start is essential to a long and rewarding career in insurance broking. Through our acclaimed mentoring program, hundreds of young insurance professionals have benefitted from the experience of industry leaders, making a real difference to careers when guidance and inspiration is needed most. Furthermore, our renowned social and educational events help our members establish and maintain a professional network, while gaining new skills and knowledge to ensure they’re at the top of their game.

Lead generation and marketing

NIBA uses a variety of methods to promote your value proposition to the wider world, raising awareness of the valued services you have to offer, while driving business leads in your direction. As well as placing a number of articles about brokers in the trade and national press, our Need a Broker marketplace puts consumers in touch with brokers in their geographic area, or those who specialise in their area of need.

Only NIBA Principal brokerages with at least one Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) on staff are eligible to be registered on Need a Broker. With a service like this at your disposal in a tightening economy, can you afford not to be a NIBA member?

Professional stature

When you provide superior levels of customer service and technical understanding it’s increasingly important be able to show that to prospective clients. That’s where NIBA membership designations can help set you apart.

The Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) membership designation is the gold standard and it’s only available through NIBA. It shows you’re more than just compliant; you’re a trusted adviser who has attained the highest standards of professionalism and knowledge. That’s a very powerful message to share.

Being a NIBA Principal Member also adds credibility to your personal and business brand. Showing the NIBA member logo on your website or printed material enhances your corporate image, assuring clients that you have access to the full support and benefits of the peak body for your profession.

NIBA members are also subscribers of the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice (the Code). The Code sets out the minimum requirements for conduct and professionalism in an accessible way, strengthening consumer confidence in the integrity of the profession.

NIBA seeks to protect its members from anything that might get in the way of them servicing their clients to the best of their abilities. That’s why we go in to bat on behalf of our members with governments and regulators to ensure the unique interests of brokers and their clients are heard.

We know that one-size-fits-all regulation doesn’t work. That’s why we have forged strong relationships with governments at a state and national level, and work closely with regulators to ensure that your interests – and those of your clients – are represented.

Discounts on events and training

NIBA members have exclusive access to discounted rates on tickets to attend seminars, networking and social events, and the NIBA Convention – potentially saving you and your business thousands of dollars per year.

Each year, NIBA's awards recognise the very best in broking at an individual level.

Relevant content and communications

NIBA members have access to up-to-the-minute news and developments via our email alerts, weekly Broker Buzz e-newsletter and monthly Insurance Adviser Magazine. Don’t look to us for gossip and easy headlines - we’re only interested in delivering the news and opportunities that you need to know about to do your job effectively.
