Disaster Relief for Qld as Massive Cleanup Gets Underway

As recovery and cleanup efforts begin, insurance brokers will play a critical role in helping families and businesses navigate claims, rebuild, and move forward.

Queensland Disaster Relief Grants

Our thoughts are with everyone in North Queensland affected by the recent floods. With cleanup underway, here are some tips:

  • Capture photos of any water-damaged or soaked items before removing them.
  • Create a detailed list of damaged items, including the brand, model, and serial number.
  • Avoid discarding items that can be repaired unless they pose a health risk.
  • Consult with your insurance broker for assistance with the claims process.

The Insurance Council of Australia has reported that insurers have received more than 3,950 claims. The government has announced a range of grants and financial assistance for families, businesses and the wider community, including an $8 million Community Relief Fund.
