NIBA President Gary Okely and NIBA CEO Richard Klipin visited Canberra last week, engaging with key government stakeholders to discuss matters of insurance affordability and accessibility, representing NIBA as the ‘one voice’ of the broking profession.

NIBA thanks the Assistant Treasurer and the Minister for Financial Services, the Hon Stephen Jones MP for his insights and welcomes his deep understanding of the sector, including the value that insurance brokers provide to the Australian economic landscape. NIBA looks forward to the next tranche of legislation addressing the Quality of Advice Review recommendations, which the Minister has outlined that an exposure draft will be released in the near future.

NIBA also welcomes the final report into insurers’ responses to the 2022 floods, headed by the House Standing Committee Economics Chair Dr Daniel Mulino, which has 86 recommendations.

NIBA looks forward to working with government, so insurance brokers continue to be positioned as trusted partners that serve Australian families, businesses and communities to manage risk and thrive.
